Review

In the second to last chapter of Origins, Clay McLeod Chapman lays out all the stakes and uncovers all of the secrets right before the final epic battle.

We find that when David arrives at his old workshop, he is forced to confront himself, his past and the consequences of keeping knowledge hidden from Cloe all along. As it turns out, she is so much more important than she knew, and simply so much more than David ever thought she could be.

Here we get the emotional stakes as well as the fate of humanity because Cloe and the robots are the true culmination of David’s life’s work as well as crucial to saving everything. David could not have come this far and will never get any further without them. These revelations speak to the core to the meaning of life and of faith and make Origins’ take on the robot uprising poignant and bittersweet.

The Bottom Line

The satisfying cliffhanger at the next to last issue of Origins sets the table for the reveal of all that David has wrought.

Fear Case #3 Review

Fear Case is a mystery with characters worth caring about. As the nightmarish tale nears the end of the arc, everything matters, and no one is safe.

Geiger #1 Review

As origin stories go, this one about a nuclear-powered superhero is clever. It manages to feel fresh and packs enough action supplemented by sentiment to make this a worthy read.

Nocterra #2 Review

An impressive second issue, Nocterra #2 further defines the world and characters of Nocterra while also making clear the danger that's nipping at our protagonists' heels. Another must-read issue.
