Review

Felicia Hardy has seen some serious change over the last several years, and now, in her first ongoing series, Black Cat, after having crossed her former allies in the New York Thieve’s Guild, is on the run.

Black Cat (2019-) #1 is an exciting, well-paced read that immediately captures readers’ attention by immersing them in a heist. And now that Hardy has to worry about the thieves guild, as well as the police, the stakes are incredibly high. While I’m not a fan of her two lackeys, the decision to include them is understandable; regardless, I’m glad that this series looks to not only further develop an interesting character, but do so by focusing on her work, both past and present, as a master thief. Felicia Hardy is more than capable of running a large operation, sure, but it’s far more interesting to watch her get her hands dirty.

Writer Jed MacKay skillfully (re)introduces readers to Black Cat with dialogue that is authentic and telling, and Travel Foreman’s artwork complements MacKay’s script, grounding the story with life-like detail.

Bottom Line

Black Cat fans who have been waiting for Felicia Hardy to get her own on-going series, this is a must-read; Jed MacKay and Travel Foreman have crafted an exciting debut issue that shows great promise.

Jupiter’s Legacy Is Not Watchmen and That’s Okay: Netflix Original Series Review

Jupiter’s Legacy hits incredibly hard while offering viewers a well-crafted blend of caped-crusading-escapism and social commentary; this combination makes for a grounded viewing experience that’s as exciting as it is though-provoking. Jupiter’s Legacy is a must-watch series.

Eve #1 Review

Eve is more than just a typical “save the planet” story. It is more about a little girl’s courage and a love that endures even in simulation. Armed with the fake bear and a dinghy, her adventure starts.
