Review

Any comic that utilizes another medium to tell its story, which, in this case is a vintage luchador film, is alright in my book.

There’s more to this story than just masks, punches, and body slams, but the hard hits help. This one-shot is broken into two separate, but related, stories: “The Ring of Death,” and “Down Mexico Way.” Both stories are well-crafted, but it is the combination of the two (you’ll see what I mean once you finish the book) that makes Hellboy vs. Lobster Johnson in: The Ring of Death a stellar read.

Mike Mignola & Chris Roberson’s scripts are paced well and are packed with humor, and just enough drama, to round off the edges and make their respective stories feel whole. Paul Grist & Mike Norton’s artwork bring both stories to life and are equally effective, but I must say that I very much enjoyed watching Lobster Johnson thudd, thwakk, and smash his way through the Devil’s skull-masked minions in “The Ring of Death.”

Hellboy vs. Lobster Johnson in: The Ring of Death is an impressive one-shot, and a must-read for Hellboy fans.

Bottom Line

Packed with humor and hard hits, Hellboy vs. Lobster Johnson in: The Ring of Death is a stunning comedic one-shot and a must-read for fans of Hellboy.

Jupiter’s Legacy Is Not Watchmen and That’s Okay: Netflix Original Series Review

Jupiter’s Legacy hits incredibly hard while offering viewers a well-crafted blend of caped-crusading-escapism and social commentary; this combination makes for a grounded viewing experience that’s as exciting as it is though-provoking. Jupiter’s Legacy is a must-watch series.

Eve #1 Review

Eve is more than just a typical “save the planet” story. It is more about a little girl’s courage and a love that endures even in simulation. Armed with the fake bear and a dinghy, her adventure starts.
