Title: Crowded #6
Writer: Christopher Sebela
Pencils: Ro Stein

Publication Date: January 2, 2019
Publisher’s Summary: Trapped with the psychopathic streaming superstar Trotter on one side and all of Los Angeles carrying a weapon and a two-million-dollar-dream on the other, Charlie and Vita have only each other — and a few of the secrets they’ve been keeping from each other — to rely on for their survival.
You know what they say about the best laid plans? Charlie and Vita enter the final stage of Trotter’s death maze, but things don’t according to his plan. With a little luck and a lot of gusto the two survive the assault. However, the showdown with Trotter proves inconsequential compared to the reveal at the end of the issue.
Christopher Sebela closes out the debut story arc in Crowded #6, weaving new layers into the story. Thus far, Crowded reads like a high stakes poker game, all action and tension. Now, Sebela adds a dash of government conspiracy to the mix, rounding out the series. Intertwining action with new questions, Crowded #6 amps up the overall tension of the series. As the relationship between Charlie and the Reaprs becomes more complex, Sebela peppers in new seeds of doubt about the two million dollar girl. If she’s such a nobody, why does everyone want her dead, and who is behind this campaign? These new questions hang in the air. I’m looking forward to their answers and what’s next in the journey for the less than dynamic duo.
Crowded is a pedal-to-the-floor series. Sebela carefully calculated storytelling techniques offer new possibilities for the series’ trajectory. Crowded is a thoroughly well written and entertaining series, offering intense action mixed with subtle commentary on our present day, tech-tech-obsessed lives.
The Bottom Line:
Crowded #6 offers a slam-dunk ending to the series’ debut story arc. Sebela’s script is quick, action-packed, and utterly entertaining. This issue promises more excitement and wacky Reaprs in future issues.
