Publisher’s Summary: Things go from bad to oh-crap as the Reapr-shaped net of bad hitmen and desperate civilians begins to close around Charlie and Vita. As their library hideout comes under assault and the campaign rolls past two million dollars, the Million Dollar Girl and the 1.4-Star Bodyguard have to make some hard choices. And quickly, because Trotter’s master plan is finally unfolding, all with a little help from Circe.

Review:

Charlie’s been in some tight situations lately, but nothing compares to what she’s about to face. As the net closes around Charlie, the fate of everyone hangs in the balance. One thing’s for certain, Vita and Charlie are in for a bumpy ride.

Crowded #5 intensifies the action and storyline as Christopher Sebela moves the first arc towards its conclusion. While Crowded has been packed with action from the first issue, Sebela outdoes himself once again. Though the series on a whole has been fantastic to read, this issue really stands alone. Between the action and plot development, Sebela has crafted a unique story, with a constant back-and-forth between both Vita and Charlie and Charlie and her various Reaprs. There’s a softness about Vita and Charlie that Sebela sneaks in before pulling the rug out from under them, though it’s just a few panels, the character development is well placed, slowing down the scene before the pair is hurtled into the hands of the cyber-obsessed Trotter.

Ro Stein’s art remains consistent. Stein has meticulously crafted the world of Crowded with contrasting images of hard lines and soft curves. The actions scenes are particularly good this issue, expressing both the adrenaline high and low as Charlie enters her final phase

The Bottom Line:

What can I say? Crowded #5 is everything you want it to be and more. Sebela advances the storyline while sparing no action. Stein depicts all of Sebela’s wild action scenes down to the last detail, creating a thrilling read.
