Ghostbusters: Crossing Over #7 Advance Review

Series: Ghostbusters: Crossing Over  | Issue: #7 | Publisher: IDW
Writer: Erik Burnham | Artist: Dan Schoening | Publication Date: October 17, 2018

Publisher’s Summary: “Several teams of Ghostbusters from across the multiverse have just about pulled off a very difficult task—tracking down and recapturing all the ghosts that had escaped from the containment unit. Crisis averted, right? They wish. In this issue, the Ghostbusters of many worlds come face-to-face with the goddess of chaos herself. TIAMAT HAS RETURNED!”

The Ghostbuster teams are off in the multiverse busy battling escaped ghosts, but larger plans are in motion. As each of the teams believe they have achieved their object and attempt to head back to New York City, they find themselves detoured. Tiamat, the goddess of chaos has a plan for the Ghostbusters, and it looks like the Ghostbusters are about the enter the final phase.

Erik Burnham has, thus far, taken the Ghostbusters story to the next level; however, everything before this point appears to be a warm up of what’s to come. The series on a whole has been paced well, filled with a variety of Ghostbusters personality and humor. Burnham concludes the multiverse storyline in Ghostbusters: Crossing Over #7, bringing almost all of the Ghostbusters together again. What Burnham has planned for the final issue, I’m not sure, but I think it’s safe to expect something awesome.

Dan Schoening crafts another extremely detailed issue, consistently creating each multiverse location, while keeping the overall lighthearted tone of the series. His depiction of Tiamat has all the markings of a classic Ghostbusters villain.

The Bottom Line:

Ghostbusters: Crossing Over #7 brings the teams back together, but not in New York City. Erik Burnham and Dan Schoening have brought the series to brink of its conclusion in this issue. So, how will the Ghostbusters save the world this time?
