Publisher’s Summary: “With his home destroyed and his spirit broken, Shirtless must join forces with a hated enemy if he hopes to rise against Logger and his loyal army of chainsaw-wielding Lumber Louts! Don’t miss the pulse-pounding penultimate issue of SHIRTLESS BEAR-FIGHTER!”

In order to take down Logger and his cronies, Shirtless is forced to team up with the very bears that he’s sworn to fight – fantastic, right? I for one am quite fond of this plot twist and think that it came at exactly the right moment. Somehow, issue after issue, this series continues to keep me laughing.

As of this issue, the story has gotten significantly more intense as more depth has been added, and surprisingly, despite this added depth and intensity, the story is still light and enjoyable.

The Shirtless Bear-Fighter scripts are certainly one of kind. Leheup and Girner have been doing an excellent job keeping this series fresh, and from panel to panel, the laughs keep coming.  And although it’s not necessarily funny there is a scene in this issue that showcases Shirtless interacting with his ‘father’ and it’s great.

Nil Vendrell’s style aligns perfectly with this series’ scripts – it’s simple yet expressive, entertaining yet effective. Vendrell’s transitions are spot on and thus, the action flows nicely from scene to scene.

The Bottom Line:

Shirtless Bear-Fighter is a fantastic series that deserves every ounce of praise that it receives. Issue #4 is solid and for those who have read the first three issues, why are you even questioning buying this one?
