Yet again, I found myself teetering on the edge of my seat throughout my reading of a Scott Snyder comic book. All Star Batman #12 is the kind of book that lures readers back in for a second helping of action-packed goodness only seconds after they tore through the book for the first time. I, of course, couldn’t help but turn back to this issue for a second reading, and I am happy that I did because on my second read-through, I devoted my attention to Alfred and his story and how it affects Bruce Wayne.
Knowing that there are only two issues left in this arc has me thinking that issues #13 and #14 are going to provide readers with an intense ride that will ultimately change how we—his loyal fans—view the Dark Knight. Decisions will surely be made, and our jaws will surely have to be picked up from the floor. AT this point, should we expect any less from Snyder? I think not.
By focusing in on the Alfred and Bruce dynamic in this arc, Snyder breathes new life into an age-old relationship. I love how badass Alfred’s backstory is, and I cannot wait to see where this arc leaves us two issues from now.
